History
Where did it start?
My grandfather retired from the U.S. Postal Service in the late 1970’s after a lengthy career as a mail carrier in New York City. As a child I would meet his express bus at the bottom of our street and walk home with him. (Back then it was okay for a 7 year old to be out by himself on the corner of a busy intersection!) My grandparents retired to Albuquerque, New Mexico, purchased a home and started a small business. As the years went by, they needed more and more care until they finally needed to sell their home and move into an assisted living facility together. My grandfather pre-deceased my grandmother and when he did, she needed to move into a 24-hour care facility. Within a couple of years, my grandmother passed away with about $17,000 left to her name. My family did not know anything about asset protection or the techniques that we can utilize today in order to avoid losing a life savings on care.
This is what drives me to do what I do today.
